How was Microsoft Impacted My
Life?
Since I was a kid there has been
a genuine interest in computers. I still remember the day when my dad bought me
a computer for my birthday. My first computer. I was 9 years old. It was then
when I discovered what Microsoft was. It was an operating system that helped me
connect to the world and it was thing that flashed across my screen as the
computer booted up. It still does.
As with any kid the usage of the
computer is restricted to Gaming. Road Rash, Dragonball Z, Mortal Kombat, etc.
had become the daily usage. But I wanted to do more so I enrolled for a short
course on Microsoft Office back when I
was 10. This is where I was able to distinguish myself from my schoolmates. I
was the only one who knew how to use Office in the proper way. I learned Excel,
PowerPoint and Word and then was able to use it through all my projects.
PowerPoint was amazing. It still is. It helps me bring alive concepts
that I may not be able to express verbally. Animation was the thing I loved
most and I explored with all my might. It still does.
These were my first experiences
with Microsoft. They helped me form an understanding of computers and helped me
decide my future as well. It gave me confidence to pursue programming and then
become a Computer Science Engineer which I am proud of.
Bill Gates' inspiring tale
motivated me to also try out a start-up company along with my friends in
college. It was a huge learning experience and it is still my ambition go
forward to be like Bill Gates.
After my graduation I even tried
to join Microsoft but unfortunately fell short of it but it has been my dream
company to work for as well and I will try again.
So why Microsoft?
Microsoft is undoubtedly the
world leader in operating systems and its name is taken every time someone
decides to buy a laptop/computer/mobile/tablet. The story of Bill Gates behind
Microsoft is inspiring to any youngster and it has inspired not only but many
others to try out technology start up companies. Every youngster dreams to be
like Bill Gates one day and follow the Microsoft example.
How can I impact the society?
These are the ways I can help the
society through Microsoft as already highlighted in my story:
1. Help children at an early age to learn
computers and how to use basic tools like Microsoft Office. In this day and age
(especially in India) it is highly important that children get a head start and
start learning a machine that they would use for the rest of their lives. I
hope to create an impact and help them gain the confidence that I gained at
that age.
2. Students are the future of the
society. By making them aware of Microsoft's latest offerings I wish to enable
them to experiment, be creative and be the best they can be. This would enable
us to create a future of leaders that take our country to the heights that we
can't even imagine.
3. By inspiring students to come
up with their own entrepreneurship ideas to create new technologies and
creating a programme to help them come up and be like Microsoft.
My
primary focus as a Microsoft Student Associate will be to promote the above
points mentioned among my peers. Little by little this would help in making a
better society. If I am selected to be an MSA this would be my way of impacting
the world we live in.
